Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection seeks an Environmental Engineer Manager to lead the Permits Section, oversee engineering reviews, and ensure high-quality environmental solutions protecting public health and natural resources.

You will supervise staff, review plans and technical documents related to water quality and wastewater systems, develop effluent limits, prepare permits, support hearings, and manage workflow with SOPs.

Qualifications

• Two years as an Environmental Engineer or five years in environmental protection project development, design or construction.
• Valid PA Professional Engineer license or equivalent from another state is required.
• PA residency waiver noted; possession of a PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead staff, assign work, review tasks, and ensure quality engineering evaluations.
• Evaluate applications, plans, and technical documents for water quality and wastewater systems.
• Develop water quality and technology-based effluent limits using modeling tools and standards.
• Prepare draft permits, review comments, support hearings, and make recommendations for permit decisions.
• Manage workflow, apply SOPs, and track permit activities using required systems.
• Provide guidance to applicants, consultants, and partners by responding to inquiries.
