Job summary

Bowman is seeking a Transportation Engineer I to support a range of transportation engineering and planning activities across Boston, MA, Taunton, MA, Westfield, MA and Lincoln, RI. This role emphasizes learning from senior staff, contributing to multimodal projects, and supporting client engagement.

The position is ideal for recent graduates or those early in their engineering careers with a focus on transportation planning, data analysis, and design tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related discipline required at time of employment.
• Entry level position; no prior experience required.
• FE exam (EIT) preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Valid state driver's license and ability to pass a motor vehicle check or reliable transportation to/from office/project site.
• Knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, or other engineering design software.
• Interest and/or familiarity with DOT permitting and industry design; policies and procedures.
• Interest and/or familiarity with Federal and State ADA Standards and Guidelines.
• Knowledge of software such as Synchro, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, VISSIM, SIDRA, and/or BlueBeam.

Responsibilities

• Prepare maps and graphics for public and client meetings, perform data analysis, data collection and trend research.
• Develop solutions to complex problems and present recommendations.
• Prepare engineering plans and reports.
• Assist in grant applications and related funding services.
• Participate in construction-related assignments and field visits.
• Draft memos, meeting minutes, letters and other communications.
