Job summary

Bowman seeks a Transportation Engineer III, Traffic to join our New England team. The role covers varied public and private sector projects across Massachusetts and nearby states, offering broad exposure and opportunities to impact communities.

You will lead project work, coordinate with teams, mentor staff, and help advance sustainable transportation solutions while ensuring design quality and stakeholder satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Coursework in transportation engineering and/or highway design preferred.
  • 5+ years of professional engineering experience with emphasis on transportation engineering.
  • EIT Registration required, or six+ years of related experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration preferred.
  • Experience with construction plans and/or studies for roadway/traffic projects.
  • Experience directing tasks and performing QA/QC.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Valid state driver’s license and ability to travel to sites/office.
  • Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation; experience with AutoTurn and GuideSIGN preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT permitting standards, ADA guidelines, and construction practices.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision on technical design elements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead transportation projects and coordinate with project teams.
  • Prepare plans, reports, cost estimates, and permits for roadway/traffic projects.
  • Develop proposals and support client communications.
  • Mentor junior staff and ensure QA/QC across tasks.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and stakeholders.
  • Present technical findings at meetings and public sessions.
  • Assist with grant applications and funding-related activities.
  • Support marketing and business development efforts.
