Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related discipline at time of employment.
• Academic or internship experience in transportation discipline preferred.
• Entry level; no prior experience required. Any professional experience is a plus.
• Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam (EIT) preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Valid state driver's license and ability to pass a vehicle check strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, or other engineering design software.
• Familiarity with DOT permitting and ADA standards & guidelines.
• Knowledge of software such as Synchro, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, VISSIM, SIDRA, and BlueBeam.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, select, and apply standard transportation engineering techniques and criteria on moderately complex projects.
• Assist in developing sustainable transportation solutions to improve livability and safety.
• Work with senior staff to learn transportation engineering and planning tasks.
• Prepare maps, graphics, data analyses, and reports for meetings and stakeholders.
• Contribute to grant applications, proposals, and project documentation.
• Support QA/QC reviews and coordinate with other disciplines and offices.
• Assist in field data collection and project file organization.
