Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps is seeking an entry-level Student Success Coach and Mentor in Kansas. The role focuses on coaching and mentoring students to improve academic performance, attendance, and classroom behaviors, in collaboration with teachers and school staff.

New members receive 2–4 weeks of training, with ongoing support from partner teachers and campus teams, and engage in a range of academic and student development activities throughout the school year.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025
• GED or high school diploma, some college, or college degree
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms
• Background check required
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups
• Help students earn academic success and improve attendance
• Support teachers with instruction and classroom activities
• Plan and monitor student progress using City Year data system
• Create an engaging, safe classroom environment with teachers
• Participate in school-wide programs and family engagement initiatives
