Job summary

Serco is seeking Shipyard Laborers to support US Navy installations in Norfolk and Newport News. You will perform general labor, assist welders, and help install electric cabling as part of a small, safety‑conscious team.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, the ability to obtain a Secret clearance, and willingness to work second shift and travel up to 10% to different shipyards. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
• Ability to gain access to shipyards (NAVSTA & DBIDS), pass background investigation and drug screening.
• Ability to work second shift and 40+ hours per week.
• Travel up to 10% to shipyards in Norfolk/Chesapeake.

Responsibilities

• Perform general manual labor including loading, unloading, lifting and moving supplies and materials.
• Perform duties as a fire watch and welder's helper and install electric cable when needed.
• Work under immediate supervision.
• Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.
