Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Safety Specialist to develop, support, and audit site safety programs in the field. You will implement the Site Specific Safety Plan and ensure compliance with the contract, client safety expectations, and OSHA/MSHA regulations.

You will work with project management, operations, and crafts to promote safety, investigate incidents, and maintain documentation. This entry-level role offers hands-on safety exposure across multiple sites and career growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Pursuing degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
• Knowledge of construction safety and OSHA requirements.
• Certification as Safety Professional or EMT preferred.
• Strong computer skills in Word and Excel.
• Willing to work onsite at multiple sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development, review, updating, and communication of the Site Specific Safety Plan to all parties including subcontractors.
• Collaborate with craft daily to promote safety program buy-in.
• Exercise Stop Work to ensure adherence to policies and plans.
• Plan and problem-solve with field operations based on leading indicators.
• Provide safety training on policies, OSHA/MSHA, NCCER, SIMS, and client requirements.
• Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Maintain project files per OSHA/MSHA regulations and company policies.
