Job summary

Actalent is seeking an entry-level Distribution Design Engineer I in Springfield, MI. The role focuses on planning, engineering, and designing electric distribution systems to support safe, reliable power delivery. Training is provided and growth opportunities exist within a large power engineering organization.

You will work with CAD tools, collaborate with internal teams and utility clients, and participate in field and office design work across a mix of assignments in a hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely related field; electrical, mechanical, civil, environmental or design preferred.
• Associates degree with 13 years of relevant experience will be considered.
• Experience with electric utilities or utility consulting for design engineering.

Responsibilities

• Plan, engineer, and design electric distribution systems for residential and commercial customers.
• Determine need, size, location and timing of power delivery infrastructure under various constraints.
• Develop work packages for overhead and underground distribution systems.
• Perform field engineering to gather requirements and verify conditions.
• Use CAD tools to create and update distribution design drawings and documentation.
• Support post-construction reviews to ensure designs meet requirements.
