Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Entry Level Distribution Designer to join the Power Distribution Engineering team in Asheville, NC. You will help develop distribution solutions that support grid modernization and reliability, preparing drawings, specifications, and estimates while collaborating with engineers and utility clients.

The role blends field data collection with design work, requiring an Electrical Engineering/Tech degree and basic CAD/GIS skills.

Qualifications

Experience in power distribution and distribution design.
Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university, or related degree.
Demonstrated ability with GIS systems (Smallworld or GWD) and CAD systems like AutoCAD.
Experience working in field and office environments preferred.
Utility distribution design experience with a utility or consulting firm preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare drawings, specs, and estimates for review and approval by the responsible engineer.
Provide limited direction to Designers and Technicians on assigned projects.
Coordinate equipment deliveries and design development to meet project schedules.
Acquire on-site field data to accomplish the design and monitor equipment performance.
May serve as a Project Coordinator on certain projects.
