Job summary

CareMore Health is seeking a Patient Engagement Specialist I to support patient access by handling scheduling, calls, data verification, and documentation in a centralized or practice-based setting.

You will assist with appointment scheduling, verify demographics and insurance details, route care team messages, and provide routine information on preparation and access processes, following established scripts and workflows.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0-1 year of customer service, call center, healthcare admin support, patient access, or patient engagement experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of customer service practices, scheduling, data entry, and patient communication standards.
• Experience with phone systems, scheduling platforms, EMR systems, or CRM tools preferred.
• Ability to follow scripts, procedures, call handling standards, and escalation guidelines with close guidance.
• Strong verbal communication, listening, accuracy, and service orientation.
• Ability to protect confidential information and follow HIPAA, privacy, and information security requirements.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming patient calls, messages, or requests using approved scripts and service standards.
• Schedule, cancel, and reschedule appointments per provider templates and rules.
• Verify patient demographics, insurance details, contact information, and appointment needs in scheduling/EMR systems.
• Route clinical questions or messages to the appropriate licensed staff or queue.
• Provide routine information about appointment preparation, arrival instructions, and documentation needs.
• Document call outcomes, scheduling actions, and patient communication in designated systems.
• Escalate complex patient concerns, scheduling exceptions, system issues, or service barriers to more experienced staff.
