Job summary

Serco is seeking Shipyard Laborers to support US Navy installations in the Norfolk and Newport News, VA area. You will join a team delivering high-technology work aboard U.S. naval ships and installations.

Responsibilities include loading, unloading, lifting, fire watch, welding helper tasks, and occasional electrical cable installation under supervision. Second shift and >40 hours per week are expected, with up to 10% travel to different shipyards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
• Ability to access shipyards (NAVSTA & DBIDS), undergo a background investigation and pass a drug screening.
• Willing to work second shift and more than 40 hours per week.
• Ability to travel up to 10% to different shipyards in Norfolk and/or Chesapeake.

Responsibilities

• Perform general manual labor including loading, unloading, lifting and moving supplies and materials.
• Perform duties as a fire watch and welder's helper as well as install electric cable when needed.
• Work under immediate supervision.
• Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.
