Job summary

Serco is seeking Shipyard Laborers to join a high-profile project supporting the US Navy. The role is based in the Norfolk, VA and Newport News, VA area, requiring second shift work and potential travel to diff shipyards. You will perform general labor, fire watch, and welding helper tasks on U.S.

Naval Ships and installations. Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED, the ability to obtain a Secret clearance and pass background/drug screens, and be able to work overtime beyond 40 hours

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or GED.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
• The ability to obtain gain access to shipyards (NAVSTA & DBIDS), undergo a background investigation and pass a drug screening.
• The ability to work second shift and willing to work more than 40 hour work weeks.
• The ability to travel up to 10% to different shipyards in Norfolk and/or Chesapeake.

Responsibilities

• Perform general manual labor including loading, unloading, lifting and moving supplies and materials.
• Perform duties as a fire watch and welder's helper as well as install electric cable when needed.
• Work under immediate supervision.
• Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.
