Job summary

Serco seeks Shipyard Laborers to support a high-profile Navy project, performing manual labor, fire watch duties, and welding helper tasks. You may install electrical cables and travel to shipyards in Norfolk/Chesapeake as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance, with willingness to work second shift and overtime. A background check and drug test are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
• Ability to obtain access to shipyards (NAVSTA & DBIDS), undergo a background investigation and pass a drug screening.
• Willingness to work second shift and more than 40 hours per week.
• Travel up to 10% to different shipyards in Norfolk and/or Chesapeake.

Responsibilities

• Perform general manual labor including loading, unloading, lifting and moving supplies and materials.
• Perform duties as a fire watch and welder's helper as well as install electric cable when needed.
• Work under immediate supervision.
• Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.
