Job summary

Strategic Mission Critical is seeking an Entry Level Mechanical Engineer/Designer to assist with mechanical design for mission critical projects at our Atlanta-area operations. You will execute specific design tasks under guidance from senior engineers, interfacing with electrical, fire protection, plumbing, and architectural teams to support greenfield and brownfield data center work.

The position offers hybrid work, internship/co-op flexibility, and opportunities to learn HVAC equipment

Qualifications

  • 2 or 4-year degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology preferred, HVAC drafting experience will be considered.
  • Past internship, co-op, or work experience in a consulting engineering role is a plus.
  • Experience working in the construction industry is a plus.
  • Experience using Revit in either an educational or professional context is a plus.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize Autodesk Revit to produce detailed design documents.
  • Assist with performing airside and hydronic calculations for multiple mechanical systems.
  • Build an understanding and ability to develop hydronic & airflow flow diagrams.
  • Learn how to select and specify HVAC equipment
  • Assist with meeting project deadlines, including working necessary hours to complete major deliverables.
  • Review and gain an understanding of local and national construction codes and project specifications to grow a broader understanding of the construction process.
  • Have experience with the use of Microsoft tools such as Word, Power Point, Excel, and Teams.
  • Have the ability to travel when required to project sites (less than 10% travel).
  • Have the ability to clearly communicate with others in both written and spoken forms.
  • Be willing to take direction from senior and mid-level engineers and designers in order to execute delivery of specific design elements.
  • Be able to work independently while coordinating with senior personnel and other disciplines.
  • Be an active participant in training and mentoring opportunities in order to grow knowledge and capabilities.
  • Maintain excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
