Job summary

ST. CHARLES HEALTH SYSTEM is seeking an entry-level HIM Specialist I in Bend, OR. You will handle release of information requests, maintain electronic and paper medical records, and ensure accuracy and compliance with Joint Commission guidelines and HIPAA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Preferred college or vocational education.
• Typing skills and attention to detail required.
• Medical office or hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answers inbound department phone calls promptly.
• Processes walk-in requests and authorizations for release of information.
• Maintains patient records in electronic and paper formats.
• Retrieves medical records from hospital departments as needed.
• Reviews ED records for completeness and accuracy per guidelines.
• Maintains confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
