Job summary

Kiewit Foundations Co is seeking an entry-level Field/Office Engineer to support both field and office activities on underground and foundation projects. You will help interpret drawings, perform quantity takeoffs, develop work plans, and assist in safety and cost control tasks.

You will gain experience across estimating, scheduling, and procurement while traveling to project sites nationwide. A Bachelor's in a construction-related field is required, with a willingness to relocate as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a construction-related field (civil, mining, mechanical, geotechnical, construction management).
• Previous experience in construction or mining is preferred.
• Strong desire to work in underground construction.
• Willingness to travel and relocate throughout career as we operate on a national scale.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Must have a valid Driver's license.
• Critical thinking and ability to plan ahead.

Responsibilities

• Field Engineering: Interpret drawings and specs for field crews; perform quantity calculations; assist in work plans and packages; assist in field surveying and data collection; help with daily timesheets; assist in Job Hazard Analyses; support underground tunneling discussions; participate in safety reviews; order materials; schedule work groups; supervise field operations.
• Office Engineering: Perform material takeoffs; run basic engineering calculations and drafting; assist in data gathering for submittals; assist in purchase orders and subcontracts; manage maintenance schedules; handle project records and correspondence; enter data into cost systems; assist in change orders and as-built data; provide field support and supervise subcontractors.
• Estimating: Review historical data for bids; perform plan/spec reviews; prepare material takeoffs.
