Job summary

Kiewit is seeking an Entry Level Field/Office Engineer based in the United States to support field crews and offices on underground and foundation projects. The role involves quantity takeoffs, scheduling, safety participation, and coordination with project teams across diverse sites.

The position offers opportunities for travel, hands-on field and office work, and exposure to estimating and project management in a major construction company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a construction-related field (civil, mining, mechanical, geotechnical, construction management).
• Prior experience in construction or mining is preferred.
• Strong desire to work in underground construction industry.
• Be willing to travel and relocate throughout career as we operate on a national scale.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Good working knowledge of Excel and Word.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Must have a valid Driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Field Engineering: Assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision.
• Field Engineering: Perform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percentage of completed/installed materials and work.
• Field Engineering: Assist in the preparation of work plans and work packages.
• Field Engineering: Assist in field surveying and work layout support including elevation, control points, and compilation of as-built data.
• Field Engineering: Assist in compiling, processing, and confirming daily labor timesheets.
• Office Engineering: Perform material takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and other contract documents.
• Office Engineering: Perform basic engineering calculations and technical drafting to support field operations.
• Estimating: Assist in reviewing historical data and preparing bids.
