Job summary

Virginia Department of Social Services is seeking an entry-level Family Services Specialist I who will train under supervision across adult/protective services, child protective services, foster care/adoption, child care, and employment services. The role progresses to a full-performance Family Services Specialist II with increased independence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Services or Bachelor’s in any field with two years relevant Human Services experience (Virginia code).
• Possession of a BSW/MSW and Virginia Social Worker license desirable.

Responsibilities

• Interprets laws, policies and regulations as applied to the area of responsibility.
• Monitors, coordinates and administers programs.
• Interviews and assesses customer needs and develops service plans.
• Provides case management and monitors compliance.
• Coordinates with other agencies and participates in multi-disciplinary teams.
