Job summary

127-New Kent Dept Of Social Services is seeking entry-level Family Services Specialist I/II candidates in Virginia.

The successful applicant will begin under close supervision, training across Adult/Adult Protective Services, Child Protective Services, Foster Care/Adoption, Child Care and Employment Services, with potential reclassification to a full-performance Family Services Specialist II upon completion of the training program.

Qualifications

• Minimum a bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field or a bachelor’s degree in any field with a minimum of two years of related experience in Human Services.
• Possession of a BSW or MSW degree and a Virginia Social Worker license is desirable.
• Preferred: experience in Virginia Local Department of Social Services; bilingual; FPM facilitator certified; forensic interviewing certified.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement service plans involving casework methods.
• Interviews and assesses client needs and develops appropriate services.
• Coordinate with other agencies and participate in multi-disciplinary teams.
• Provide case management and monitor client progress.
• Record keeping, preparing reports, and budget considerations as needed.
