Job summary

Irby Construction Company is seeking an Estimator I for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. This entry-level role develops foundational estimating skills in electrical and EPC disciplines while learning to interpret design documents and contribute to accurate project cost modeling.

You will assist with preliminary estimates, take-offs, vendor quotes, and bid documentation while growing knowledge of KMZ files, BOMs, and construction specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• Foundational estimating principles and cost modeling knowledge.
• Proficiency with Excel and construction documentation workflows.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing preliminary cost estimates for BESS and Data Center projects under supervision.
• Review proposal documents, drawings, single-line diagrams, and electrical one-lines to identify project requirements.
• Support material take-offs, vendor quote requests, and subcontractor scope development.
• Maintain records of estimates, design updates, and supporting documentation.
• Participate in pre-bid site visits and virtual meetings to assess project conditions.
• Assist with identifying risks, schedule constraints, and constructability factors specific to BESS and mission‑critical projects.
• Learn to read and analyze KMZ files, BOMs, submittals, and engineering specifications.
• Support preparation of RFP responses and bid documentation.
• Participate in project cost forecasting and cash flow exercises.
