Job summary

Irby Construction Company is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead complex project bids, mentor junior estimators, and ensure accuracy and competitiveness in bids. This role requires strong leadership and advanced electrical estimating skills for data centers and large EPC projects.

You will develop detailed cost estimates, review drawings and specifications, and collaborate with project managers, engineers, and trade partners to ensure cost integrity throughout the preconstruction and bid process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of estimating experience in utility, infrastructure, or civil construction.
• Expertise in estimation software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the estimation process for complex projects and mentor junior estimators.
• Review RFPs, drawings, specs to determine project scope.
• Develop bid clarifications and proposal documents for clients.
• Negotiate with vendors and subcontractors for competitive pricing.
• Lead pre-bid meetings and site walks to gather project details.
• Maintain cost databases and historical data for pricing consistency.
• Forecast cost and cash flow for projects.
• Support handoff from estimating to project management post-award.
