Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a junior estimator to assist with preliminary budgets, conceptual and detail estimates for smaller, less complex projects. You will analyze drawings and perform material take-offs using applicable software to provide unit costs.

Responsibilities include developing project updates and bid package estimate documents, tracking quantities, and resolving discrepancies. You will research historical cost data and keep project documents current for use in future

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred in Construction Management or Engineering; trade school or equivalent acceptable.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Good analytical skills with ability to interpret cost data.
Basic drafting skills and ability to read specifications and drawings.

Responsibilities

Assist with preliminary budgets, conceptual estimates, and detail estimates for smaller projects.
Analyze drawings and perform material take-offs using applicable software; provide unit costs.
Prepare bid package estimate documents and compare against updates.
Track quantities and resolve discrepancies; update historical cost data for future bids.
