Job summary

MDPI USA in Philadelphia is seeking an Assistant Editor who is eager to begin a career in scholarly publishing. This full-time, in-office role offers on-the-job training while you support researchers worldwide in publishing their latest results.

As part of the Editorial team, you will organize peer review, manage communications with authors and reviewers, and coordinate decisions to ensure timely publication.

Qualifications

• PhD in Virology, Immunology, Infectious Diseases, or related field.
• Experience publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Detail-oriented with balanced precision and priorities.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, international team environment.
• Scholarly publishing experience is an asset but not required.
• Experience in writing and creating presentations is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Organize the peer review process for submitted manuscripts and coordinate editorial decisions.
• Handle email communication between authors, reviewers, editors, and internal teams.
• Collaborate with other members of the editorial and production teams.
• Ensure that scholarly articles are edited and published on tight deadlines with high consistency.
