Qualifications

• ARDMS or CCI certification in cardiac or vascular sonography.
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred; education from an accredited institution verified.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate technical competence for department protocols.
• Prioritize and schedule exams.
• Coordinate exams with medical staff, physician offices, other caregivers and patients.
• Prepare for exams by educating patient and family on procedures and ensuring patient identification.
• Perform ultrasound exams consistent with protocols and in a timely manner.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort and achieve quality outcomes.
• Communicate patient needs to physicians and caregivers during exams.
• Document results and other required information after exams.
• Apply appropriate charge codes for exams and supplies.
• Maintain equipment, work area, and stock supplies.
• Support repair or supply needs as required.
• Participate in quality improvement processes and education opportunities.
• Provide education for caregivers, fellows, and students as appropriate.
