Job Title: Entry Level Construction Manager

Join to apply for the Entry Level Construction Manager role at Actalent.

The Roof Observer will maintain a presence at the construction site to ensure and confirm the roofing contractor's compliance with contract documents, approved submittals, schedules, and safety procedures. The Roof Observer will also complete daily quality and safety reports, among other submittals throughout the week.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a presence at the construction site and interact daily with roofing contractors and client representatives, along with the Interstate Project Manager, to coordinate site requirements according to job specifications.
• Take photographs of job-site progress and perform daily documentation and reporting.
• Ensure the roofing contractor complies with the Contract Documents.
• Complete and submit daily quality and safety reports.
• Inform the Interstate Project Manager of quality issues and safety violations by the contractor.
• Ensure incomplete work is finished prior to the final inspection.

Essential Skills

• Experience in construction, quality control, supervision, documentation, roofing, and quality assurance.
• Proficiency in construction management, construction safety, construction schedules, construction trades, renovation, installation, blueprint reading, site layout, and site monitoring.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial construction management or superintendent experience on commercial projects.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel across the greater Chicagoland area.

Work Environment

The candidate must be open to working a varied schedule week-to-week, with some weeks requiring 20-30 hours and others 60+ hours, including potential night work. The role involves guiding roof inspections on Chicago Public School Projects, conducting in-progress meetings, and traveling within the Chicagoland area. Projects may last the entire summer or be extended from previous years. The interview will be held in the Illinois office in Elgin.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range is $22.00 - $29.00/hr. Eligibility for benefits depends on employment classification and duration. Benefits may include:
