Job summary

The State of West Virginia, Bureau for Child Support Enforcement, is seeking an entry-level Caseworker for Jackson County. You will work under supervision, completing training to handle child support caseloads, learn laws, locate parents and income sources, and prepare case files for attorneys.

Responsibilities include responding to customer inquiries, preparing routine correspondence, and maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher is required.
• Paralegal or legal secretarial training may substitute for two years of required training.
• Experience in legal research, reading and interpreting laws, preparing legal documents, or assisting in case-file preparation may substitute for training.
• Any combination of substitutions may substitute for required training at a rate of one year per 30 semester hours.

Responsibilities

• Perform entry-level child support case work under supervision.
• Process cases through location, case development, and initial notices to non-custodial parents.
• Learn to manage a caseload in child support enforcement.
• Research statutes, court opinions, and regulations relevant to cases.
• Prepare case files for BCSE Attorney and respond to customer inquiries.
