Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is seeking a Cargo Claims Examiner I in Lowell, AR. This full-time role handles cargo overages, shortages, and damages, serving as the first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.

The candidate will document incidents, apply guidelines, and develop action plans to mitigate loss. Shift is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (may vary). The position requires a High School Diploma or GED with under 1 year of related experience, and offers benefits including

Qualifications

• Minimum: High School Diploma/GED with less than 1 year of experience in Transportation/Logistics, Claims, Insurance, Customer Service, or related field.
• Strong professional demeanor and customer-facing skills are expected as part of the role.
• Ability to analyze situations and make informed decisions under pressure.
• Ability to capture and document business information in an auditable, organized manner.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently manage inbound and outbound communication through calls, emails, notifications, and customer portal interactions regarding cargo related incidents with potential financial exposure; apply independent judgment, detailed claims analysis, and procedural guidelines to ensure accurate and optimal mitigation of exposures related to cargo claims
• Leverage knowledge to mitigate exposure by upholding company guidelines, laws, and customer SOPs; assess information and identify missing or updated claim information to determine appropriate course of action
• Ensure timely and accurate data entry across internal and customer systems; monitor timelines and follow up on outstanding items
• Cultivate relationships with internal and external customers to move claims forward through clear information sharing and collaboration
• Coordinate remediation efforts with stakeholders, documenting regulatory implications and ensuring compliance with applicable standards
• Contribute to incident reporting procedure improvements and adapt to evolving departmental needs
• Request and document all contractual, financial, and DOT-related claim documents for investigations and audits
• Participate in training to stay updated on industry changes and processing techniques
