Lamar Institute of Technology is seeking an Instructor for English to provide instruction in English and Developmental Reading and Writing courses. The role involves teaching on campus and online, maintaining office hours, and developing curriculum.
The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s degree in English, have strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with others. Experience in higher education is highly preferred, and the position promotes student engagement and retention.

The Instructor for English is responsible for providing instruction for students enrolled in English and Developmental Reading and Writing courses (along with other related courses and topics) in the General Education and Developmental Studies Department, including dual credit high school students. The instructor maintains office hours, teaches extended day classes, labs, and hybrid/online courses as required, both on campus and at alternate locations, coordinates and attends advisory committee meetings, attends workshops, seminars, and conferences to upgrade teaching skills, assists in the development of curriculum as needed, and maintains program computer labs. All LIT faculty are responsible for recruitment and retention as part of achieving the Institute’s Shared Vision of Growth and Excellence.
This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for most of the time; occasionally move about inside an office to access documents, office equipment, etc.; and constantly operate a computer or other office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine.
