Lamar Institute of Technology is seeking an Instructor for Humanities to provide engaging instruction to students, including dual credit high schoolers. Responsibilities involve teaching various Humanities courses that explore visual and performing arts.
The ideal candidate should hold a Master’s degree in Humanities/Fine Arts and possess solid communication and teaching skills. The position includes maintaining office hours and participating in curriculum development, along with attending professional workshops to enhance teaching effectiveness.

The Instructor for Humanities’ responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing instruction for students enrolled in Humanities/Fine Arts (along with other related courses and topics) in the General Education and Developmental Studies Department, including dual credit high school students. The Instructor will teach a broad-based humanities course that explores the purpose and processes in the visual and performing arts (music, painting, architecture, drama, and dance) and the ways in which they express the values of cultures and human experience. This individual is also responsible for maintaining office hours; and teaching extended day classes, and hybrid/online courses, as required, both on campus and at alternate locations. This individual helps coordinate and attend advisory committee meetings; attends workshops, seminars, and conferences to upgrade teaching skills; assists in the development of curriculum, as needed; and maintain program computer labs. All LIT faculty are responsible for recruitment and retention as a part of achieving the Institute’s Shared Vision of Growth and Excellence.
This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for most of the time; occasionally move about inside an office to access documents, office equipment, etc.; constantly operate a computer or other office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine.
