Job summary

North Carolina Department of Transportation seeks an Engineering Technician III for Wayne County to oversee inspections of maintenance projects and enforce quality controls. You will supervise technicians, gather field data, and assist with emergency response during weather events and disasters.

Responsibilities include coordinating ditch, shoulder, and pavement maintenance activities, obtaining hydrology reports, and ensuring compliance with erosion control and storm water plans.

Qualifications

• Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects with limited supervision.
• Ability to explain engineering concepts to diverse customer groups.
• Experience applying engineering concepts to solve problems.
• Experience working in a team to complete assignments.

Responsibilities

• Oversee inspections of contracted and force account activities for Highway Maintenance Operations in Wayne County.
• Assist with field data collection, record keeping, and supervision of Technicians in the field.
• Coordinate emergency response during inclement weather and disasters.
• Obtain hydrology reports and manage documentation for maintenance projects.
