JD Power is hiring a Team Lead, Engineering for a remote role based in Canada. You will own team delivery, guide the software lifecycle, and drive best practices while collaborating with stakeholders to align priorities and resources.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, performance management, and scaling the team through adoption of AI tooling to increase quality, velocity, and reliability, with an emphasis on collaborative, accountable work and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience required.
• Proven technical team leadership abilities including on- and offshore multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience with Java and Typescript.
• Experience with service-oriented architecture and design principles.
• Experience with relational and non-relational database design.
• Strong communication skills across organizational levels.
• Self-motivated, accountable and detail-oriented.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Foster a positive, accountable, collaborative work environment to motivate Engineering staff.
• Own team delivery outcomes with quality, velocity, and reliability.
• Define, adopt, and enforce best practices across the Software Development Lifecycle.
• Identify, track, and report on engineering performance indicators.
• Lead and support the team, hands-on, in using AI tooling to improve quality and velocity.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align priorities and resources.
• Provide day-to-day functional oversight for Engineering staff.
• Remove obstacles to delivery commitments.
• Provide regular performance feedback and conduct formal reviews.
• Develop training plans and support staff growth.
• Participate in recruitment to grow the Engineering organization.
• Manage onboarding of new developers and interns.
• Maintain visibility into team health and knowledge depth.
• Design and develop software from specifications.
• Develop unit, component, and integration tests to verify requirements.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards and test coverage.
• Investigate and resolve technical issues and delivery risks.
• Collaborate with architects on design and direction.
• Contribute to technical and end-user documentation.
