Altana’s Engineering team is building an AI‑driven platform that serves governments and businesses worldwide. As a Team Lead in Brooklyn, you’ll guide a 3–4 engineer squad, partner with product and design, and translate customer pain into shipped, measurable outcomes.

You’ll own the technical bar, manage incidents, mentor teammates, and present progress to customers and leadership. The role blends hands‑on coding with leadership in a fast‑growing company.

Qualifications

• Real‑world experience writing backend or data‑driven software in demanding environments.
• Hands‑on engineering with production cloud deployments and sound design judgment.
• Experience coaching, mentoring, and leading other engineers on complex projects.
• Track record of staying close to customers, turning problems into shipped work.
• Experience running sprint planning and delivery for a team that hits commitments.
• Comfort with operations, incidents, on‑call, and cost.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and sound judgment.
• Experience building production systems with LLMs, agents, evals, or retrieval.

Responsabilités

• Ship and set the technical bar for the team—own architecture and quality.
• Own the problem, not just the ticket; define customer problems and metric outcomes.
• Engage with customers weekly to identify top friction points.
• Turn ambiguity into a plan with milestones and MVP/GA releases.
• Build AI-native systems and verify code with standard checks.
• Maintain velocity by tracking engineering metrics and removing bottlenecks.
• Own incident response and cost awareness; review security in code.
• Demo work to customers, the commercial team, and leadership.
• Coach engineers, write reviews, and participate in hiring with the engineering manager.
