Job summary

Altana's Brooklyn-based Engineering Manager leads a team building an AI-driven product network for trusted trade. You will own from ideation to telemetry, embed with product and design, and drive the end-to-end lifecycle of shipped, adopted features that deliver real customer value.

You will hire, grow, and manage engineers, maintain a strong customer feedback loop, and set a high standard for quality. Hybrid work in Brooklyn is offered with strong incentives.

Qualifications

• Experience writing backend or data-driven software in demanding environments.
• Proven track record of leading a team and coaching engineers.
• Experience delivering incremental releases from prototype to production.
• Strong customer-facing work and ability to translate problems into shipped features.
• Experience running planning and delivering commitments for a team.

Responsibilities

• Build the team and help each person grow through performance management.
• Stay close to customers and bring the team along on feedback and issues.
• Define problems with product and design before choosing solutions.
• Contribute code and own the system architecture and debt as the team scales.
• Build AI-native capabilities and verify them before shipping to customers.
• Run planning processes, flag risks, and deliver cycle after cycle.
• Improve team velocity by identifying bottlenecks and reducing operational debt.
• Own on-call practices, incidents, and cost considerations for the area.
• Create a team culture that thrives in ambiguity and safe idea-sharing.
