Job summary

HireIQ, partnering with an established engineering consultancy, seeks a Project Accountant to join its Morris County office. The role focuses on managing project financials, billing, collections and reporting across a varied portfolio of engineering projects.

You will work closely with project managers and senior leadership, supporting projects from small assignments to multimillion-dollar engagements with emphasis on accuracy and collaboration.

Qualifications

• 6–15 years of accounting experience.
• Engineering, architecture or consulting engineering environment preferred.
• Strong project accounting and billing experience.
• Experience working directly with Project Managers.
• Good understanding of project costs, budgets, revenue and collections.
• Strong Excel and general accounting-system skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Strong communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Managing project accounting across a portfolio of engineering projects.
• Preparing and reviewing client invoices.
• Monitoring project budgets, costs and profitability.
• Supporting revenue recognition and project financial reporting.
• Managing accounts receivable and collections.
• Reviewing project financial performance with Project Managers.
• Maintaining accurate project and contract information.
• Assisting with project closeout and reconciliations.
• Supporting month-end reporting and wider accounting requirements.
• Ensuring project financial information is accurate and up to date.
