Job summary

SGMC Health on Main Campus is seeking a skilled Plant Operator with strong HVAC maintenance capabilities and hospital facility operations experience. You will monitor critical systems, manage emergency power and fuel readiness, and perform preventive maintenance across pumps, air handling units and steam systems.

The role requires handling complex environments, following safety protocols, and coordinating projects with minimal downtime.

Qualifications

• HVAC trade program graduate or 5–7 years related plant maintenance experience.
• Experience operating and maintaining emergency power systems.
• Ability to read and follow maintenance procedures and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate temperature and humidity stresses to cycle chillers for efficiency.
• Monitor supply air handlers, operating room, and special areas humidity/temperature.
• Coordinate projects, communicate tasks, minimize corrective clean-up.
• Maintain Emergency Power Supply System and perform Generator testing.
• Oversee Emergency Fuel sources and readiness of delivery system.
• Diagnostics, repairs and preventive maintenance on pumps, motors, and controls.
• Monitor water softening, medical gas system, and steam delivery operations.
• Respond to fire alarm events and assist with safety protocols.
• Conduct night/weekend rounds; document data for records and compliance.
• Attend training and undertake additional duties as required.
