Job summary

MultiCare is seeking an Operation Engineer II to ensure safe and efficient operation of hospital plant systems across facilities. You will manage boilers, HVAC, electrical equipment, and emergency generators while maintaining regulatory compliance and supporting facilities operations.

The role requires experience with steam and electrical systems, EMCS, and a proven track record in building mechanical operations. On-site schedule includes 8-hour shifts with variable timing and a 1.0 FTE position.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• May require a City of Tacoma Engineer License II (or obtain license within 90 days of hire) depending on location.
• Accomplished in steam, HVAC, and basic electrical related to plant operations and maintenance.
• Minimum four (4) years of experience directly related to operations and maintenance of building mechanical and electrical systems.
• Computer and EMCS experience preferred.
• Valid Washington State driver's license and proof of a safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the safe and efficient operations of gas and electric boilers, HVAC, air compressors, pumps, emergency generators and other auxiliary equipment.
• Oversee the safe and efficient operations of the hospital’s infrastructure, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Monitor and assign work orders to ensure timely completion.
• Perform tasks pertaining to the boiler room and steam distribution system.
• Perform rounds and inspections of machine rooms and roof areas.
