Job summary

SGMC Health is seeking a skilled Plant Operator for the Engineering Department. The role focuses on maintaining HVAC systems, power and water services, and overall facility reliability on a weekend evening shift.

Responsibilities include monitoring air handling systems, performing preventive maintenance, and coordinating projects to ensure uninterrupted hospital operations. Requires vocational HVAC or equivalent experience and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Graduated from a vocational HVAC program or Industrial Plant Maintenance program, or equivalent 5–7 years of physical plant, electrical, and/or mechanical experience.
• Certification in Emergency Power Supply Systems is required.
• Demonstrated competency in boiler operation and emergency generator operations.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate temperature and humidity stresses and plant load to optimize chiller efficiency.
• Maintain temperature/humidity in supply air handlers, OR, and special procedure areas.
• Monitor and operate Emergency Power Supply System, generators, and transfer switches.
