Job Description

Our Data Center Engineering Operations team maintains and operates critical infrastructure systems to ensure they are prepared for any situation.

Our Engineering Operations Technicians (EOTs) help keep these facilities operational by testing and implementing new technologies and practices to meet market demands.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment, ensuring 24/7 reliability
• Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
• Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within SLAs
• Perform rack installations and decommissioning within SLAs
• Conduct preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repairs of electrical and mechanical equipment
• Write technical documentation to support change management
• Manage daily work requests from initiation to resolution and execute projects from start to finish
• Support on-site contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors, ensuring compliance with practices, procedures, and legislation
• Work schedule may vary, including shifts up to 12 hours and on-call rotations
• Support may extend across multiple locations/sites

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in physical conditions with reasonable accommodations, including lifting up to 39 pounds independently
• Participate in group lifts for objects over 40 pounds
• Maintain balance and perform construction tasks on ladders
• Perform various physical activities such as walking, handling, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, twisting, bending, grasping, carrying, pushing, and pulling
• Work in environments requiring ear protection

A Day in the Life

This role involves hands-on electrical and mechanical preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of mission-critical data center equipment, reporting to the Data Center Facility Manager. Equipment includes generators, switchgear, UPS units, batteries, chillers, cooling towers, water systems, air handlers, pumps, motors, fire safety systems, building automation, and general facilities equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Technical training (Military/Trade School) or 2+ years of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or fire system experience in mission-critical infrastructure or relevant industry
• 2+ years of experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• 4+ years of Data Center Engineering experience
• Associates or Bachelor’s Degree
