Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, DCC Communities

Job Overview

How would you like to be a part of Earth’s most customer-centric company? You would work with teams of front-line responders supporting the operations of some of the world’s most powerful data centers. Our Data Center Engineering Operations team maintains and operates critical infrastructure systems to ensure they are prepared for any situation.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment, ensuring 24/7 reliability
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within SLA
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning within SLA
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Support change management through technical documentation
  • Manage daily work requests from initiation to resolution and execute projects from conception to completion
  • Support on-site contractors, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring compliance with procedures and legislation
  • Work schedule may include shifts up to 12 hours, rotating as needed, including on-call rotations
  • Support multiple locations/sites as required
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in conditions requiring reasonable accommodations
  • Regularly lift/move up to 39 pounds; participate in group lifts for 40+ pounds
  • Perform construction tasks on ladders, maintain balance, and handle physical tasks including reaching, stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing, twisting, bending, and working above shoulders
  • Work in environments requiring ear protection
A Day in the Life

This role involves hands-on electrical and mechanical preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of mission-critical data center equipment, reporting to the Data Center Facility Manager. Equipment includes generators, switchgear, UPS, PDU, batteries, cooling systems, fire safety equipment, and building automation systems.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Technical training or 2+ years of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience in a mission-critical environment or relevant industry
  • 2+ years of experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4+ years of Data Center Engineering experience
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree
