Job summary

Stripe is seeking an Engineering Manager of Managers to lead multiple teams that build and operate critical service infrastructure. You will provide architectural direction, incident response leadership, and drive improvements to API availability and developer experience across global teams.

You’ll collaborate with product and infrastructure leaders, grow line managers, and recruit top talent to execute Stripe’s mission with autonomy and accountability.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience managing managers (leaders of teams with 25+ people).
• 3+ years of experience managing critical distributed system infrastructure.
• Led staff or principal engineers driving architectural decisions.
• Managed incident response processes and on-call rotations.
• Experience shipping/operating API design, abstractions, frameworks, or client libraries.
• Effective cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management.
• Experience recruiting, mentoring, and retaining top engineers.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical leadership (architecture, design, direction) for reports.
• Collaborate with infra and product leaders to advance Stripe's architecture.
• Prioritize engineering work by user needs and impact to product releases.
• Drive improvements to API availability and developer experience.
• Grow and manage a team of engineers and line managers.
• Partner with recruiting to attract and hire top talent.
