Job summary

SOLV Energy in San Diego, CA is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the engineering scope for diverse solar, storage, and substation projects. You will own deliverables, coordinate with permitting and design teams, and drive technical alignment across project teams.

The role requires extensive EPC experience, people management, and strong knowledge of codes and standards; travel up to 20% and a hybrid work model in an active construction environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive engineering experience in EPC, renewable energy, utilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Minimum 3+ years managing direct reports.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT)
• Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Working knowledge of Primavera P6 or similar scheduling tools.
• Ability to travel up to 20% to project sites or partner offices and work in active construction environments.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery of all engineering deliverables for assigned projects and direct reports, coordinating required interfaces with the permitting team.
• Manage design internal and external consultant schedules and budgets, tracking performance and addressing deviations for contracted scope of work.
• Coordinate review comments with consultants and track responses to closure.
• Assist in responding to Owner and IE comments and clarifications.
• Identify, assess, and track engineering changes that may impact project cost, schedule, or risk profile; coordinate with the permitting team on permitting changes that affect engineering scope or design.
• Ensure Project Managers and Field Teams understand and adhere to all project-specific engineering requirements; coordinate with the permitting team regarding permitting requirements that interface with design or construction.
• Advocate on behalf of the Project and Owner to drive timely decisions and technical alignment.
• Manage development of the contract energy production model and ensure final designs align with contractual modeling assumptions and Issued-For-Construction (IFC) drawings.
