Job summary

Burq is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Merchants engineering function, overseeing two teams (Core and Growth) that own the merchant-facing product. You will drive technical direction, team health, and roadmaps, acting as the primary authority for billing architecture, checkout flows, and the delivery promise engine.

You will build and coach engineering leads, own hiring, and foster a culture of ownership and technical excellence while collaborating with product, design, and data

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering experience, including 2+ years managing engineering teams.
• Architect-level depth in billing systems, API design, and scalable infra.
• Proficiency with Node.js/TypeScript, PostgreSQL, AWS, and Stripe.
• Strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead Merchants Core and Growth teams, aligning on strategy and roadmap.
• Own sprint health, delivery predictability, and KTLO across both teams.
• Shape technical direction through RFCs and architectural decisions.
• Partner with PMs and designers to translate product strategy into roadmaps.
• Mentor engineers, hire top talent, and foster ownership culture.
