Job summary

Burq is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Merchants engineering function, overseeing Core and Growth teams that own the merchant-facing product, billing architecture, checkout flows, and the delivery promise engine.

This builder-leader role requires 5+ years in engineering with 2+ years in people leadership, hands-on technical credibility, and strong communication across stakeholders. Fully remote, US-based.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering experience, including 2+ years managing engineering teams.
• Architect-caliber depth—own hard decisions on billing systems and core infra.
• Strong Node.js/TypeScript, PostgreSQL, AWS, and Stripe experience.
• Comfortable in a high-growth startup and hands-on when needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead Merchants Core and Growth teams; set goals, coach, and hire engineers.
• Own architectural direction for billing, invoicing, checkout, and delivery engine.
• Manage sprint health, backlog quality, and delivery across both teams.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data, and Success to translate strategy into roadmaps.
