Job summary

Rain, the global stablecoin payments platform, is hiring a Head of Engineering to lead a ~50-person engineering org, raise the bar on reliability and architecture, and partner with Product, Risk, and Compliance. You will balance hands-on coding with strategic leadership, driving critical tech bets to scale transaction volume and ensure security and compliance.

Qualifications

• 4+ years building production software with at least 3+ years in leadership roles
• Hands-on in code within the last year
• Experience with distributed backend systems at scale
• Proven track record of raising an engineering bar
• Experience in payments, fintech, or banking infrastructure
• Strong hiring and coaching instincts
• Clear written communication to diverse stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Lead a high-performing team of 4–6 senior backend and platform engineers
• Own architecture and technical direction of Rain’s core services
• Remain hands-on ~30% of the time through PR reviews, prototyping, debugging
• Raise engineering standards across testing, code quality, observability, incident response
• Drive reliability, correctness, and auditability of systems moving money globally
• Translate business goals into clear, sequenced technical plans and communicate risks
• Partner with Head of Engineering on organizational design and headcount planning
