Formation Bio is seeking an Engineering Manager for Infrastructure to lead reliability, security, and the operational foundation of our AI-native engineering organization. You will set technical direction, build a high-performing team, and create systems that enable rapid and safe shipping.

You will partner with engineering, data science, security, and domain experts to promote strong reliability practices and scalable, secure production software across cloud environments.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in infrastructure/SRE with people management.
• Proven ability to hire, develop, retain engineers and give actionable feedback.
• Strong operational and reliability judgment; incident response and RCA experience.
• Bias for automation; minimize repetitive manual work; coach team.
• Credible view on AI-native engineering and agentic SDLC requirements.
• Exceptional collaboration and communication with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience managing technical projects with budgeting, estimates, tracking, reporting.
• Working knowledge of AWS and Snowflake; Azure/GCP/Vercel a plus.
• Familiarity with multiple shared COTS/FOSS apps in multi-tenant env.
• Knowledge of Docker, GitHub, Kubernetes, Python, Terraform/OpenTofu, virtual networking.
• Experience with regulated/validated workloads is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Hire, coach, and develop infrastructure/SRE engineers.
• Set technical direction and roadmap for infra and SRE.
• Deploy secure, observable software across containerized apps and ML workloads.
• Oversee multi-cloud infrastructure services and sensitive workloads.
• Maintain IaC, container images, and CI/CD pipelines with high quality.
• Review requirements, designs, and ops/maintenance procedures.
• Drive knowledge sharing, training, and mentoring across the org.
• Own the team's on-call coverage, escalations, and postmortems.
• Manage budgeting, resourcing, and reporting for infra initiatives.
