Assort Health in San Francisco is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team building AI-powered healthcare products, from patient-facing voice agents to powering platforms.

You will own infrastructure, observability, CI/CD, tooling, and cross-cutting systems, guiding architecture reviews and incident debugging. This role demands hands-on leadership and a balance of reliability, cost, and developer experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in an engineering manager role.
• Track record of building and leading high-performing engineering teams in fast-moving environments.
• Strong engineering fundamentals and ability to design, build, and scale production-grade infrastructure.
• Experience with distributed systems, platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, observability, or SRE practices.
• Willingness to wear multiple hats—from architecture to incident response in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead a high performing infrastructure and platform team, including hiring and coaching.
• Build and scale platform systems: observability, CI/CD, developer tooling, reliability infrastructure.
• Own cross-cutting systems spanning multiple product teams for reliability and performance.
• Drive decisions on GCP infrastructure, Kubernetes, monitoring/alerting, and data infra.
• Partner with product engineering to unblock teams and improve developer velocity.
• Design and ship internal tools and automation to boost productivity.
• Maintain autonomy while balancing reliability, cost, and developer experience.
