Job summary

Pearson is seeking an engineering leader to drive the Data Foundations modernization, balancing legacy .NET and modern React/TypeScript front ends with AWS-driven services. You will own delivery across data contracts, quality gates, observability, and governance while protecting continuity for all platform consumers.

Qualifications

• 4+ years managing engineers who ship to production, including hiring, performance, and development.
• Working engineering background capable of reviewing technical decisions with engineers operating at AI fluency bar.
• Experience delivering a model-backed or agentic capability to real users, including evaluation before release and post-release monitoring.
• Experience managing across a legacy and a target platform while maintaining shipping on both.

Responsibilities

• Own planning, prioritization, and delivery commitments for your team and the operating rhythm that makes progress visible without the need for status meetings.
• Allocate people to work, manage escalations, and resolve blockers quickly and transparently.
• Recommend and land process improvements to reduce friction, not just escalate it.
• Hire against our AI-fluent bar and hold it when pipelines are thin.
• Set expectations for data contracts, quality gates, and observability across data domains.
• Partner with Product, Data Engineering, Security, DevOps, and vendor teams to align delivery priorities and protect continuity during modernization.
