Job summary

Verkada is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a new team focused on building AI agents that improve engineering velocity, reliability, and developer experience across the company. This 0→1 team will operate within Infrastructure/DevX, developing agentic systems that automate workflows like CI failure triage and autonomous deployments.

The role is strategic and hands‑on: you will define the roadmap, build and grow the team, and actively contribute to prototyping and development.

Qualifications

• 7+ years software engineering experience with 2+ years in management.
• Proven shipping of production systems including automation-heavy workflows.
• Hands-on coding in Python, Go, or TypeScript.
• Experience building systems that interact with APIs and external services.
• Ability to define metrics and evaluate system performance.

Responsibilities

• Eliminate repetitive workflows by building AI agents to boost productivity.
• Define and own the agent roadmap, prioritizing automation and success metrics.
• Build and lead a small, high-impact engineering team.
• Contribute hands-on to prototyping, coding, and solving tough problems.
• Establish evaluation frameworks for agent performance (golden tasks, replay).
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, and DevX to integrate agents into workflows.
• Drive high engineering standards via design docs, RFCs, and execution.
