Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) is seeking current students for a fall 2026 Internship and/or Co-op at our Orange County or San Diego, CA, offices. You will work side-by-side with industry-leading experts in the office and field to gain hands-on experience applying classroom knowledge to real-world challenges.

Qualifications

• Interest in civil/structural engineering, materials science, architecture, or architectural engineering.
• Maintain high academic performance and seek hands-on experience in a consulting environment.
• Strong communication abilities and professionalism are required.

Responsibilities

• Work with industry experts to develop practical structural solutions.
• Support projects related to critical infrastructure and power generation.
• Develop analytical models to evaluate building performance against earthquakes and hazards.
• Perform structural analysis and design under licensed professionals' guidance.
• Assist in preparing client deliverables, reports, and presentation slides.
• Collaborate with SGH researchers to advance practice in structural engineering.
• Develop digital tools to improve workflows and productivity.
• Conduct field reconnaissance and tests as needed; travel may be required.
