Job summary

Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) in Houston, TX is offering a 2027 Summer Internship for current civil/structural engineering students. You'll work alongside industry-leading experts on building evaluations, designs, and field testing, gaining hands-on experience applying classroom knowledge to real-world challenges.

As an Intern you will assist with data organization, reconnaissance on existing structures, and preparation of client deliverables under licensed engineers.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in civil/structural engineering with strong academic performance.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team.
• Willingness to learn and contribute to engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist with structural engineering projects including evaluations and designs.
• Collaborate with SGH engineers on field tests and reconnaissance of existing structures.
• Organize field data and support research to aid analysis and repair design.
• Perform analysis under supervision using hand calculations and software.
• Assist in preparation of client deliverables and reports.
• Travel to field sites as needed.
